Since I could last recall I drank coffee. My father and I would have a “Tea Party” however it would be with a teapot full of coffee. Funny, but also a great memory for me, and since then I have always had a love for coffee. It reminded me of happy moments with my family… Fast forward 20 years or so, and I realized I had a slight addiction to the dark brew.
And now things have changed, my love for loose tea has grown and developed into the business I have today. I like it, love it, cannot live without it. And although I still have a cup of coffee on a more consistent basis, it is tea that ultimately wins the race.
How did I overcome my coffee addiction? With TEA! There were so many varieties, tastes, flavors and information about tea I couldn’t help but fall madly and deeply in love with it. And because of that I was able to shift my life in a more profound way. You see it only takes one cup before you realized you are hooked. And with all the different herbs and blends out there, tea can actually be a beneficial way to improve your health and your life.
So, if you are in the same boat as I was and wish to break the habit of coffee. Here is what I recommend starting with…
- If you are going to try tea for the first time, loose tea is the way to go. Loose tea is typically higher quality with a better taste. Tea bags are more convenient if you are really strapped, but it is just as easy to use disposable filters and make your loose tea on the go.
- Start with a darker leaf. If you are looking for a darker cup to emulate a cup of coffee, a darker steep will help you transition over. Some alternatives include a Black tea or Puerh tea. Which will also give you some caffeine so you are not left with a horrible headache as you wean your body off of caffeine. There are also some teas with coffee beans included like our Caramel Latte so it’s a smoother transition.
- Can’t do caffeine at all? Well I have great news for you! You can try Roasted Dandelion Root as a caffeine free alternative. It is roasted, earthy and strong much like a cup of coffee so you can slowly adjust to yourself.
- Baby steps. Take it slow and one cup at a time. If you cut yourself off completely, it’s like ripping off a Band-Aid. The transition will be a lot more challenging and may not stick. So don’t feel guilty, things take time and you want to do what works best for you.
And that’s it. The key is to begin making it a habit and drink it consistently on a daily basis. This will get you into a routine and so you can start seeing additional benefits in a positive way! Shop our collection here.
